Classical sculptures reinterpreted through interventions that reconstruct lost parts, remove supports, lighten their museum-like presence or introduce new elements and contrasts. Gold is one of the collection’s languages, not a rule: what unites the works is the desire to restore autonomy, lightness and vitality to the figure.

Gold brings together reinterpretations of classical sculptures transformed by CARMIDE to different degrees. Some works feature a gold detail; in others, missing parts are reconstructed, supports or extraneous elements are removed, or the relationship with the base is redefined. The aim is not to alter the character of the work, but to make its form and gesture more immediate in contemporary interiors.
Transformation
Gold-colored finishes, removed supports, cleaner silhouettes and contrasting bases become different tools within the same visual language.
Autonomy
Freed from museum supports and isolated on clean, contrasting bases, many figures gain greater visual independence and seem to recover their original gesture.
THE GOLD LANGUAGE
A more vivid classicism.
Gold does not necessarily mean that every work contains gold. It names a research into classical sculpture: reconstructing what is missing, removing what weighs the figure down, and working on details and the base to restore autonomy, balance and greater visual strength. In the Doryphoros, the contrast between the classical figure and the metallic finish makes this principle clear: the archetype remains recognisable, but gains a sharper, more contemporary character.

Discobolo
A dynamic balance suspended in an instant of perfect tension. The gold disc interrupts the purity of the figure with a decisive accent, drawing the eye to the gesture and the energy of the movement.

The ancient gesture of the ribbon becomes the centre of the composition. Freed from extraneous elements and placed on an essential base, the figure recovers balance, continuity and a more immediate presence.

The Hunter
A narrative, theatrical composition built on the contrast between the tension of the sculptural group and the gold accent of the spear. The intervention heightens the movement and turns the work into an intense, immediate and highly recognisable presence.
